I shall rise again. A dispatch from Phydra.

壱 · 01 · The Article

The last year has taught me more about resilience than any other season of my life.

That has been a private conversation for a while. Meir Heimowitz invited me onto his podcast, and I finally said it all out loud.

Most people get resilience wrong.

They call it stubbornness. Focus. Being single-minded enough to keep dragging yourself forward.

That is part of the story. It is not the whole story.

TAKEAWAY
"Resilience is a way of life. A lifestyle. It is in your finances. Your relationships. Your habits. The decisions you make before everything goes sideways. It is built over years, usually while you are busy doing something else."

I am still learning it. The hard way.

This episode is 21 minutes. We talk about business and AI, but this is the part I keep thinking about.

If you have time for one insightful conversation this week, make it this one.

A Quick Note About the Podcast

I’m bringing the podcast back.

A new episode of the soon-to-be-launched Resurgam Podcast should be live within the next two weeks. I’ll tell you more soon.

Until then, there are 231 old Edgy Conversations episodes still waiting for you. This podcast ended in 2019, before I put my head down and went all-in on business.

Some things are worth returning to. A Resurgam Podcast is one of them.

SHORT THOUGHTS. BIG IMPACT.
There is no amount of information that will make you feel “ready.” There is no amount of approval that will make you feel confident. There is no amount of success that will make you feel entirely fulfilled. Life is about just doing the thing anyway.
— Mark Manson

Often we fail to improve our lives simply because things don’t get bad enough. If your new job is hell, you’ll leave it, but if it’s just unsatisfying, you’ll likely grind it out. Small problems often threaten our quality of life more than big ones.
— Gurwinder Bhogal

See you next week. I'm writing a story about the 3x bankrupt multimillionaire who invented ice 150 years ago. If that doesn't make sense, don't worry. It will next Tuesday.

Love you all. 🖤

Sit in the fire. Laugh at the flames.
